After reading the story There Will be Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury, after reading through the excerpt for the first time, my first impression was that it was pretty ordinary since I find any book that I read ordinary, after going through the book a second time, I noticed the amount of rthymes present in the book which made it different than most other books that I have read. After noticing this, I think that the book is rather intresting in it’s format and the writing style that the author Ray Bradbury used.
I think that the book is rather intresting due to the differnt writing style and the rather unusual plot. The plot takes place on August 4th, 2026 in Allendale California, and is about a seeming normal day with ahouse’s automated systems doing some daily activites such as going to school/work and cleaning, then it transitions to the outside of the house which has been revealed to be obliterated by a nuclear bomb and is currently the last house standing. That, night a fire burns downs the house leaving only a single wall left of the house, a wall that continuously tells the time.
One question I wish to know the answer to is why did the author choose to reveal the background later instead of having the excerpt open up with the background. Another question I wish to know the answer is to is why did Ray Bradbury choose the format and writing style he used instead of a writing style and format that would be more fitting with the plot.
